Toys

I'm going to rant for awhile.

I am so sick of plastic toys. I'm sick of hearing about lead in toys. I'm so angry that companies setup shop in China because it's cheap labor, and then the Chinese take that manufacturing job and turnout toys that don't meet specifications because they have no quality assurance in those factories. I'm not mad at the Chinese, mind you. I'm angry at our companies. They know this is happening. They quite purposely put our children in danger. They know the toys are out of specification, but they also know they probably won't get caught. So they still make all kinds of money, but our kids get sick.

So this Christmas, I have vowed not to get sucked in. I will not buy a plastic toy. I will not buy anything manufactured overseas. I won't. I don't care how attractive the sales pitch. I don't care how cheap the price tag shows. I'm not doing it. And if it means my kids only get a few toys this year. Then so be it.

Instead, I'm looking at toys like these...

All of these toys are handmade in the USA. Some are from recycled material, or reclaimed wood. Most are made by stay at home moms trying to make extra money for their families. All can be found on etsy.
