We decided to try camping with the kids. Fred & I camped a bit before we had kids, but haven't gone since. We knew tents were out of the question. So we decided to try a cabin.
Our destination was the Washington coast. Never been. Thought it would be a well deserved relaxing weekend. Ha.
The kids had great fun during the day. Our cabin was near the playground. (BTW, the campground was very nice.) Which meant they could play and we could see them from the cabin porch. The campground had bike rentals. They were called banana peels. Very cool. Makayla loved them. We also drove around the sleepy little fishing villages. When I say "sleepy", I mean people don't get up until 10a and nothing opens until noon. Not kidding. And if you have kids, you know what time they get up. It's early.
So the days were good. The nights not so much. Makayla was too excited about the bunkbeds to sleep the first night. And Mason had no idea where we were when the lights went off. Needless to say, bedtime actually occurred around 10 pm. Now, that wouldn't be so bad except that it didn't change the awake time. So we still got up at the crack of dawn. Naps were basically non-existent unless we happened to be driving, then they conked out. And by the third night Mason was so exhausted that he pretty much screamed for the majority of the night. I thought for sure they were going to kick us out of the campground for being loud after hours!
The point of this is...Mason is too little for camping, but Makayla is just about the right age. Maybe we'll try again in a few years!
I did manage to get some pictures...
