Spring

I love spring. It's like a new beginning every year. All the dormant trees and flowers come back to life and fill the air with sweet smells. I always have the urge to clean everything this time of year. I want to clean out the kitchen cabinets, the garage (yikes), the closets. And then have a big yard sale. I don't know what it is but I always feel like it's a good time for change.

One new thing I'm excited about this spring is our CSA membership. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. We bought a small share in a local farm, Schreiber & Sons, which will provide us with fresh fruits and veggies all spring, summer and fall. I'm so excited to see what we'll get each week. It's sort of like a Christmas gift every week because you just never know what will be in the basket.

Their list of crops is quite extensive with good old favorites like peaches, bell peppers, and tomatoes and some unusual ones like kohlrabi, swiss chard and fennel. I'm truly looking forward to cooking with all the fresh produce and I'll probably post some of my successes.

I get that spring cleaning bug too. I just wish I had the energy to do it all!

You'll love your CSA. It's definitely fun to see what you get each week and to try and come up with new recipes.

Make sure to get some seasonal cookbooks because they will have ideas for the not-so-common vegetables.
