Mason never ceases to amaze me. From the day he was born, he's done "better than expected". By that I mean that he seems to do amazing things even when the doctors prepared us for disappointment. Not that I'm saying doctor are bad, I just think sometimes they give us the worst case yet hope for the best.
In the NICU, he only had CPAP for a day. Most babies at that gestation can not breathe on their own. But he did. He ate great even though his tiny intestines weren't ready for food. He maintained his own body temperature. And he was out of the NICU in two weeks.
Although he missed some milestones like waiting to walk until he was 18 months, he continued to strive in others. And I swear something clicked in his brain around that time and he just took off.
Now he's 26 months. He is amazingly smart. He counts to 15. He knows his shapes. And he recognizes written letters (both upper and lower case). I'm so fascinated by his little brain. I'm so proud of him. Even when he insists he's still a little baby, I know he's becoming a big boy already.
