Summertime

This may be the best summer I've had in a long time. This neighborhood is full of friendly, families who love having new neighbors. Nearly every night all the families get together in someone's backyard, let the kids play, have a drink and chat. It's fantastic. It's like we've just melded with the neighborhood. We are honestly loving having new friends. There are probably 30 kids for Makayla to play with. Fred even played volleyball the other night!

We bought a grill last weekend. My Dad had promised we could have one of his because they have two and who needs two grills. Come on. But my Dad was mad at me for leaving so he said I couldn't have it. Anyway...moving on...we bought a grill. We've been grilling like crazy. Last night I grilled peaches! YUMMO. Grilled flesh side down, then turned over, sprinkled with cinnamon, honey and cream cheese. I love summer fruit.

Filled with the excitement of summer, I also decided to buy a bike. Fred found it on craigslist actually. Flat tire but otherwise in great condition. Cost $50. Because of the flat tire, he had to go to WalMart and buy fix-a-flat plus a helmet for me. Cost $25. Remembering how to ride a bike, looking kinda foolish with my helmet on, but enjoying riding with Makayla....priceless!
